5 inch gauge Sweet Pea
Owner, David Simmonite
‘Sweet
Pea’ is a 5” gauge 0-4-2 Narrow Gauge Loco with Hackworth Valve Gear
and a steel marine type boiler working at 90 psi. The prototype was designed and
built by Jack Buckler of Leeds. The loco is 32 inches in length
and 19 inches high from track level, with 1.5 inch diameter
cylinders and a 2 inch stroke. Shown here with junior member Mark Campling at the
controls, the engine was bought from Dan Jeavons of Kidderminster in
1997 and is an interesting loco to drive.
