7 1/4 inch gauge "Phantom"
Owner, Trevor Hill
"Phantom"
is a Maxitrak
kit. The engine is a 2-6-0 based on the Li'l Jo tender style
chassis (more normally supplied as 2-4-0 or 2-4-2). It has a Cheddar
copper
boiler with a working pressure of 90 psi. Water is fed to the
boiler via an injector, a hand pump, or an axle pump (which is not
currently connected). Five gallons of water is carried in the
stainless steel double bogie tender to feed the injector and pumps.
The kit was collected from the Maxitrak
works in June 2001 as an already painted model which only required
basic tools to assemble. The chassis was supplied partially
assembled, with the wheels, axles, eccentrics and connecting rods
already fitted. The model was first steamed in September
2001,
and ran perfectly "straight out of the box".
