This 7 1/4 inch gauge locomotive was built to the Martin Evans `Highlander' design serialised in the M.E between 1965 and 1968.  When Mike bought the model it had been dismantled for a major overhaul, and came in many boxes complete with a new boiler.  From the the 842 locomotives built by the LMS and BR Mike chose to number his rebuilt locomotive as number 45440, a loco of some fame as it was allocated when only a few months old to Bath Green Park shed in 1938, from where it then worked over the Mendips between Bath and Bournemouth on the old S&D line for the next 20 years.  The loco only left Bath when it was replaced by the then new BR Standard Class`5's.
